This guide connects Social Work students with interesting and valuable internet sources.

General Notes for Faculty

I'm so excited to offer my support for your classes!  Please take a moment to read through the library services available to you below.  I will update this Research Guide as needed - please check back throughout the semester for new content.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you have! c-cogswell@neiu.edu

Request Instruction

NEIU librarians are committed to bringing information literacy and library training sessions into classrooms in every academic discipline.

If you would like to schedule a 45 - 60 minute information literacy session on topics ranging from academic database use, citation management, web resources for social work, demographic data, or a simple overview of the library and its services, please email Chrissy Cogswell, the library's subject liaison for the Social Work program at c-cogswell@neiu.edu to request a class.

Here is what I normally cover:

  • Library Overview & Website
  • Interlibrary Loans
  • Academic Databases & Peer Review
  • Anatomy of an Article
  • Searching Databases Example
  • Citation Management Tool Sneak Peak

I am happy to work with you to incorporate any additional content you would like included.  Please provide at least two weeks' notice for scheduling and class preparation.
